Welcome to my blog!

Here, I journal the transformation of our tiny London backyard into a dream garden. I hope you will like it!

A dream garden, for me, is an outdoor space filled with rich colours and seductive scents, offering beautiful flowers, interesting textures and tasty morsels for our delectation. Also a source of nourishment for the local wildlife - birds, butterflies and bees. A space to enjoy with my SO, friends, family, and, of course, our cats. Somewhere to sit and have coffee, or even a meal, and a tiny patch of grass to lie on in the fleeting sunshine of the English summer. And, we're almost there...

Unless stated otherwise, all photos are by me (or my SO) and are clickable.

Sept - Nov 2017

September, the summer was finished
 Still some sun
 And plenty of big spiders!
In November, the chrysantemums and cyclamen are still flowering profusely

July - August 2017

First courgette buds
First courgettes harvested; the total from 2 pots was 28 fruits and 6 (edible) flowers
Potted fennel (with rosemary) got taller than me!
The garlic harvest - we still have a bulb and a half left, solely using these since then

More pics from Summer 2017

Scented white dianthus, next to rosemary and thyme
First bloom of my favourite English rose Gertrude Jekyll
Hector approving the new summer petunias pot
The other pot had fuchsias as well

Sculptural allium seedheads, foxglove and rose
Sweet pea obelisk

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Five years later, we have overhauled our garden to an urban paradise.  Filled with shrubs, bulbs, perennials and roses, all perfect for pollinators, scented and delicately hued in pinks, purples and blues.  My food-growing instincts had to be funneled into 2 golden courgette pots and a small bed of garlic... until the allotment!
